The probability of your being involved in family care is high. More than 60 percent of the U.S. population will need long-term care at some point. This figure becomes much higher when you factor in such things as illnesses, surgeries and accidents. Also keep in mind that almost all long-term care begins at home.
Remember, taking on increased family care responsibilities may be nothing more than checking on a family member more frequently than before, due to a change in circumstances. Or it may be as abrupt as a phone call in the middle of the night, telling you that a loved one's health has dramatically changed.
